Membership
is open to persons licensed to practice law or engaged as a
legal assistant, law office administrator, legal secretary,
stenographers, typist or clerk in any law office, any person
employed in the court, the trust department of banks or
trust companies, or in any public or private institution or
office directly engaged in work of a legal nature, including
the public offices of the government, state, cities or
counties.
Membership in a local association offers many advantages,
including the opportunity to become more proficient in the
legal profession; the advice and counsel of members who are
experienced in specialized areas of legal procedures;
furthering a closer cooperation between law offices and
others with whom contact is made; and developing friendships
with others sharing an interest in the legal field.
Levels
Professional Member - full membership level for anyone
working in the legal services fields. Professional members
may vote and hold elected office.
Associate Member -
educators, judges, attorneys. Associate members may not vote
nor may they hold elected offices within the association;
they may, however, chair committees.
Student Member -
student with minimum of 9 credit hours. Student members may
not vote nor may they hold elected offices within the
association; they may, however, chair committees.
Dues
Per capita dues are
set by the local, state, and national associations.

Lifetime
Membership at the National level is available for a one-time
payment of $750. Annual billing for state and local dues is
sent separately.

To become a member of NALS and its

application (which can be found on the "Forms"
section of this website). Mark the appropriate
"dues" level (life membership, international
membership, new member, associate member, student member),
including local and state association. The "Chapter
Name" is RLSA (

sponsoring your membership, please list that member's name
and member number in the appropriate space on the
application.
